Edward Joseph O’Leary III (Teddy) of Ipswich, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, January 26, 2013. Born in Worcester on August 2, 1947, he was the son of the late Edward J. O’Leary Jr. and the late Anne Burke O’Leary of Bass River, Mass.
Teddy will be lovingly missed by his beloved wife, Jane Marc-Aurele O’Leary and his four beautiful daughters, Alison O’Leary Dion and her husban Kerry, of Northborough, Courtney O’Leary Lima and her husband Jay of Ashland, Erin O’Leary Parker and her husband Evan of Ipswich, and Heather O’Leary and her fiancé Sean Riley, of Topsfield. Teddy is also survived by his siblings, Susan O’Leary of Barnstable and her children, Sarah, Stephanie, Craig, Josh and Dan, William Burke O’Leary and his wife, Cheryl and children, Katie and Burke of Winchester, and Lee Anne O’Leary Gambardella and her husband Lou and children, Louie and Anthony of Medford. He is survived by his brother-in-law, Drew and his wife, Joanne and children, Jeff, Craig and Leah of Ipswich. His survivors also include his grandchildren, Burke and Morghan Dion, Ryann, Jack and Colby Lima, and his Jack Russell terriers, Bridie and Rudy.
Ted graduated from Dennis Yarmouth Regional High School, class of 1965, and attended Worcester Academy, class of 1966 as a post-graduate. He enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard after Worcester Academy, and was stationed at Race Point Station in Provincetown, and Highland Light in Truro. He was honorably discharged in 1970. He was a long-term leading salesman for Merrimack Valley Distributing Company.
In 1976 he met Jane Marc-Aurele, the love of his life. They married in 1980 and settled in Ipswich, Jane’s hometown. Ted was an avid antique and marine art collector and shared his many finds with friends and family. He was also the biggest Notre Dame Fighting Irish football fan in Massachusetts. He was very proud of his Irish American heritage and enjoyed many adventurous trips to Ireland with family and friends.
First and foremost however, Teddy was an eternally devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend. He touched many, many hearts.
