Snapchat made good on its plans to roll out its first ads this weekend, with one ad spotted by BuzzFeed News showing up in the "Recent Updates" section of the app as indicated.

One of the first ads seen by BuzzFeed News appears to be a trailer for Ouija, a horror film that will be released on Oct. 24.

This marks the first time the company has begun showing ads, creating a potential revenue stream for he company that is rumored to be raising a financing round that would value it at $10 billion.

Snapchat pledged on Friday that the ads would not be "creepy," instead indicating they would be higher quality and more in the vein of some of the live stories it has run around events. Snapchat rolled out the "Our Story" feature earlier this year, which is a collection of Snaps users have sent in that are curated by the team around events like college football games.
